Anthro Friendship Bracelets

2 Sep

So, time management hasn’t exactly been my strong suit lately, but I’m back in the blogging game after a week-long hiatus! I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Classes started this week and mayhem has officially made its way back into my life. But all my blogging abilities came back to me just now – literally, JUST now – as I was watching The Real World: St. Thomas (per usual) and noticed a tailored ad just for me! NEW ANTHROPOLOGIE ACCESSORIES! And, what do you know, I have a new obsession: Trinklet Friendship Bracelets. Buy them here for $58 each!

I feel a thousand times better.

Sunday Statements

27 Aug

“It’s our God forsaken right to be loved.” – Jason Mraz

I’ve officially gone to my first Jason Mraz concert! I finally got to see my favorite artist – the one and only who got me through my angstiest, moodiest and most critical times in middle and high school – on Friday night. Hence the dramatically prophetic song lyric this week. I’m a happy, happy girl.

Well I have just had the longest and least lazy Sunday ever. Between hittin’ the gym, meetings for various sorority events, reuniting with friends after summer, and worrying – sort of, not really…which is worrisome – about classes starting tomorrow, I really just need to lay in my bed, watch True Blood, and not think about anything except Alexander Skarsgard’s sexy body. BUT before I do that, I must throw some Sunday Statements your way!

Totally Tortoise

25 Aug

Okay, yes, I know, cheesiest post title ever but, hey, I couldn’t think of anything else! Anywhoooo…I haven’t posted like, ALL week because I’ve been nannying my butt off, earning some cash monayz before classes start on Monday. Yes, the dreaded school year is about to begin and I can’t say I’m too excited to start paper, after paper, after exam, after group project…blah blah blah. But there is one good thing about the school year beginning: it means fall is close behind! I absolutely LOVE the fall – boots, scarves, cute sweaters, cooler weather, pretty foliage, the list goes on. In preparation for fall, here are some lovely tortoise shell items to start stocking your jewelry boxes with! Time to stash away the neons and go for some pretty browns and richer colors. Ugh I love fall so much.

Ella-Rue

20 Aug

When my friend Maddy picked me up from the airport two days ago, we made two VERY important stops on the way home. First, we went and got food at my favorite sandwich shop in the history of ever, Wisey’s. Then we stopped in a boutique after briefly window shopping on the way to chow. Turns out, the store is a designer (and I mean DESIGNER) consignment shop. While there, Maddy and I met the most beautiful transgender woman we’ve ever seen in our lives. I also picked up these fantastic statement earrings!

Found these at Ella-Rue. Visit their website: www.ella-rue.com!

Newest Baubles – Louisville Edition

19 Aug

As promised, here is a rundown of some lovely new pieces I acquired during my week-long stay back home in Kentucky.

My favorite thing about shopping in Kentucky is that, save for J. Crew trips, I almost only shop at boutiques. Louisville is known for being extremely local-business friendly. In fact, I stopped in Macy’s at one point and none of the designer clothes and jewelry even remotely appealed to me after spending most of the week hitting my favorite Louisville boutiques. Another perk is that all of the boutiques are fairly cheap and sales tax is 4% lower than in DC…which justified my two separate trips to J.Crew…no judging.

This clutch is made by Street Level handbags.

I found this awesome leopard clutch at a boutique call Collections in one of my favorite shopping areas, Westport Village. I saw the bag and I was like, holy leopard. Then I called my mom and I was all, “Can I?! Can I?!” and she was all, “I suppose…” and then I was like 🙂 🙂 🙂

Sometimes my mom likes to re-gift things to me she got from her friends. Most of the time, I not-so-kindly reject these hand-me-downs but this one was a score! I love the cool intertwined wire effect in this copper bangle from an awesome home good/accessories/wacky gifts store called Work The Metal.

Still working on the arm party to end all arm parties (I’m overselling this way too much), I got these blue and coral bangles from J.Crew. Find similar ones here and here. And I picked up this adorable hunter green patterned cuff at Scout on Market, which is located in NULU, the new neighborhood downtown known for the best, newest and most unique restaurants, bars and people…no wonder I love it there, I fit right in! (jokes, jokes)

And then I went BACK to J.Crew and went home with this zebra pendant long necklace. I’d seen it when I got the bangles and I knew it belonged with me. I always wanted a pet zebra! So, when my mom sent me out to pick up the catering trays for a party we were hosting that evening, I made a little detour for myself. Worth. It. Find a similar one here.

Oh! And my A-Thread bracelets arrived the day I got home! Oh, happy day!

Sunday Statements

19 Aug

Now, usually I’d be posting a dozen cute and colorful statement necklaces right now, but I’m nearing an overdose of those right now – not that an overdose of accessories is EVER a bad thing but I need a little change-up. I’m back in DC, leaving a piece of my heart back in Louisville, but I’ll survive. I came back with more new accessories than I can handle and I was welcomed back to my house in DC with a few new surprises! Updates to come.

So while I listen to “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” for the thousandth time and drying my self tanner so no one catches on that I spent zero time outside this summer, I give you…my favorite statement earrings!

J.Crew Flower Lattice Earrings – $58 (jcrew.com)

Kendra Scott “Lauren” Earrings – $110 (charmandchain.com)

Tory Burch “Floyd” Statement Clip Earrings – $71.90 $145 (nordstrom.com)

Swell Caroline “Miller” Earrings – $56 (swellcaroline.com)

Anthropologie Salt Clay Earrings – $48 (anthropologie.com)

And now I’ll continue nervously redecorating my bedroom, trying not to think about classes starting in a week…

I’ve had the same leopard print J. Crew iPhone case for a while now and I think it’s time for a change-up. I’ve been coming across the CUTEST iPhone cases lately and I think Siri needs some new accessories. Now the challenge is to pick just one…

Anthropologie Kaleidoscope iPhone Case – $98 (anthropologie.com)

J. Crew Colorblock iPhone Case – $32.50 (jcrew.com)

DANNIJO Henrik iPhone Case – $98 (freepeople.com)

Kate Spade New York Composition Notebook iPhone Case – $40 (katespade.com)

Tory Burch ‘Foxy’ Hard Shell iPhone 4 & 4S Case – $48 (nordstrom.com)

These are all “tech”-nically fabulous. He he ha ha ho.

My Favorite Totes

15 Aug

I’m getting ready to go back to classes in a couple weeks and, being the covetous fashion-obsessed college co-ed that I am, I’m thinking the standard collegiate Longchamp needs to be retired (at least for a couple weeks!) and a fashionable – maybe a little wild – tote needs to be introduced to campus. Here are the lucky contenders vying for my shoulder’s – and school supplies’ – attention.

My Other Bag “The Queen Bee” Tote – $24.99 (myotherbag.com)

Anthropologie “Passing Paisleys” Tote – $78 (anthropologie.com)

Rouge and Whimsy Mint Green Colorblocked Tote – $50 (etsy.com)

Tory Burch “Ella” Tote – $250 (nordstrom.com)

Deena & Ozzy Stud Tote Bag – $69 (urbanoutfitters.com)

Now which to pick…
